1. Focus Focus Focus
Focus on only one project for the month. When you get to the end of the month do you want to have achieved a little bit of everything or one complete project. Let’s complete one project.
What’s the one thing you need to get done now?
Now that you know the project you are focusing on, create a list of each and every step you need to complete to complete the project. For the family jugglers also include any additional household/family tasks. If you are going to a trade show, do you need to organise babysitters, etc.
Once you know exactly which steps you need to take to complete the project, guesstimate how much time each task will take you. It’s ok if you aren’t 100% sure, but work on a rough estimate. If you can, now is the time to allocate some of the tasks to someone else. It’s always possible but if you can, determine what someone else can do.
Define how many hours over the week you have to work. I’ve just got Max into another day at Kindy so I can work Monday – Thursday from about 8 – 4, but if you allow an hour for lunch and then a couple of hours for email/social media and distractions, there is about 5 – 6 productive hours per day.
Each day block in your time to achieve your tasks. Emails and social media can be done after your main tasks have been done.
I also write down what I’m going to do the next day at the end of the current day, so it’s the priority when you sit down the next morning.
Here are some general tips to keep you on track:
Get someone you can chat to for 15 minutes once a week to keep you on track.
I love doing this and it’s spurred me into action asap. Let your community know what you are going to achieve and by when. I pre launch all of my programs so I have a date they need to be done by. If someone else is expecting something from you, you can get it done.
Celebrate Your Wins
When you complete your project, how will you celebrate? After our first 5 figure month, we celebrated with lunch. I booked it for the last day of the month, knowing I was going to achieve our goal.
Focus on your why
When you know why you want to achieve your project, you can focus on getting it done. It becomes more real to you when you know why you want to achieve it.
Don’t fall into the trap of creating content daily for social media, etc. Batch your content together. You can achieve much more in a single focused session than doing a little bit each day.
I’m just trailing this at the moment. It’s basically working to your strengths. You know that on certain days you can focus better on different tasks, so work on those things on those days. For me it’s Monday for content creation, Tuesday is running webinars and webinar set up, Wednesday is passive income streams and Thursday is systems.
Do something everyday that scares you.
Life happens outside of your comfort zone. For me it was Facebook Live. So I’ve committed to jumping on twice a week. Start where you are and commit to being more. Your journey starts with a single step.
I would love to hear what you are going to focus on and how I can help you stay on track, comment on the Facebook Live video here.
